Why choose a chandelier
A ceiling chandelier does more than light a room: it becomes a visual anchor. Depending on finish and form, it can assert character or blend into a quiet décor. Our collections range from minimalist silhouettes to multi-arm compositions, with brands like Alora Lighting, Kuzco Lighting and Dainolite covering both contemporary and transitional looks.
- Architectural focal point that defines a zone (dining room, foyer, living room).
- Varied finishes — warm brass, graphic matte black, chrome — that speak to your existing materials.
- Multiple light sources for evenly spread light, without harsh shadow gaps.
- Often dimmable models to shift the mood from dinner to a gathering.
The right chandelier by room
Over a dining table
For a dining room, hang the chandelier 30 to 36 inches (76 to 91 cm) above the tabletop under a standard 8-ft ceiling. This height lights faces and food without blocking sightlines between guests. Over a rectangular table or island, a linear model spreads light better; over a round table, a round or globe shape harmonizes naturally.
In a foyer or stairwell
Keep at least 7 ft (213 cm) of clearance between the bottom of the fixture and the floor in passageways. Under a very high ceiling, a chandelier with vertical presence — sometimes multi-tiered — avoids the "lost in the void" effect.
In a bedroom or living room
In a bedroom, the chandelier usually hangs around 7 ft (213 cm) from the floor, factoring in bed placement. In a living room, a dimmable model lets you move from warm general light to a softer evening glow.
Materials and finishes
Metal and black chandeliers
Metal leads our selection: brass for golden warmth, chrome for a contemporary finish, and above all matte black for a graphic black suspended chandelier that stands out against a pale ceiling.
Crystal and glass
Crystal and glass play with reflection and refraction to multiply points of light. Glass-globe compositions — sometimes in varied sizes — diffuse a soft light and add movement.
Natural materials
Some models incorporate more organic materials to filter light and add texture in a neutral interior, contrasting with more contemporary finishes.
Styles available
- Modern: pure geometry, clean lines, often integrated LED (Kuzco Lighting, Alora Lighting).
- Linear: horizontal orientation, ideal over a rectangular table or island.
- Multi-arm sputnik style: sources radiating from a central hub, sculptural presence.
- Glass globes: luminous clusters that bring lightness and diffusion.
- Transitional: a versatile choice when the room's style isn't clearly defined.
Colour temperature and dimming
For a residential interior, warm white light of 2700 to 3000 K stays the most welcoming, especially over a table. Save cooler tones (3500-4000 K) for spaces where clarity matters, like a kitchen. For a dimmable LED chandelier, make sure the bulbs are marked "dimmable" and pair them with an LED-compatible dimmer to avoid flicker.
